I heard about CSS Grid Layout "Display: grid" So I wonder if React Native could support it
There is some activity in this react-community/discussions thread. Apparently, this feature requires Yoga, the layout engine, to support it ; which seems quite unlikely unfortunately. But you can always upvote the feature here in yoga issue tracker.
..tick tock 🤹
Can we do this, please?
It's 2019, cmon
CSS Grid support would be a huge quality of life improvement for React Native development. Currently, when developing a web+mobile hybrid app you are forced to downgrade to Flexbox or add a layer of abstraction if you don't want to recode layout twice.
that would be amazing.
This is a must :)
This would be extremely useful
Please add this feature!
CSS Grid is becoming the de facto layout system for the web. Flexbox is not fit complex page layouts but for only for component level.
+1 would love to see this implemented.
How is this not already a thing in React Native, almost two years after CSS Grid hit all major browsers? Is there a technical holdup?
Flex is very limiting compared to Grid.
This would enable some pretty bad ass designs in react-native waaaaaaay easier.
same here,it would be great to have display grid in react native apps,
I need it too
+100 Would love this
Would love this too.
I mean I need it
@Amr Abd El Wahab El Desouky It's still super useful even without tablet/big screen. Anytime you want 2D layout, display: grid is a good option, independent of screen size. Plus the fact that you can think with gaps rather than make padded containers everywhere is so nice. Would love to have this for the phone apps I am working on.
I think it will be suitable to tablet and big screen designs
While this could take a while to implement, it would be invaluable. I've only scratched the surface so far on my research into what CSS Grid can do but already I've found it makes complex layouts a piece of cake.
